Plan Your Arrival at Atlantica Lodge

As we are located on a maritime island, it is essential to plan your arrival in advance. We recommend arriving during daylight hours, ideally between 11:30 am and 2:00 pm.
Avoid night-time crossings, which may be more expensive, uncomfortable, or even unfeasible depending on weather conditions.

How to Get to Atlantica Jungle Lodge

From Conceição de Jacareí:
The most convenient port for crossing to AJL at Praia do Pouso is in Conceição de Jacareí, which is closer to Rio de Janeiro, AJL, and Vila do Abraão, the main village on Ilha Grande.

By bus from Rio de Janeiro:
Ask the driver to stop in Conceição de Jacareí. From the bus stop to the public pier, it’s about a 10-minute walk.

Crossing Options from Conceição de Jacareí:

  1. Speedboat or Direct Taxi Boat to AJL

    • Duration: 30 minutes.
    • Cost: R$ 400 per trip (up to 4 people).
    • How to book: We provide contacts so you can arrange the service directly with the boat operators.
       

  2. Flexboat to Vila do Abraão + Transfer to AJL

    • Step 1 – Flexboat Conceição de Jacareí → Vila do Abraão
      • Schedule: Daily departures between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm.
      • Duration: 15 minutes.
      • Cost: R$ 75 per person (tickets are purchased on-site).
    • Step 2 – Vila do Abraão → Praia do Pouso
      • Option 1 – Regular Boat (Athos)
        • Schedule: Daily departures at 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 11:30 am, and during high season, 12:30 pm.
        • Duration: 50 minutes.
        • Cost: R$ 40 per person.
      • Option 2 – Taxi Boat
        • Private Cost: R$ 300 to R$ 500 (up to 4 people).
        • Shared Cost: Around R$ 60 per person (minimum of 4 to 6 people).
        • Duration: 20 minutes.

Important Notes:

  • Night crossings are not recommended due to weather conditions and higher costs (up to double the usual price).
  • Walking trail from Vila do Abraão: There is a trail to the lodge (2h30 over uneven terrain), but it is not feasible with luggage.
  • Prices and schedules: May vary depending on the season and weather.

Please inform us of your arrival time and travel plans. This allows us to assist with your luggage and organise your reception at the lodge.

 

Access from Angra dos Reis

Angra dos Reis is a convenient option for those travelling from Paraty (100 km) or São Paulo (400 km). However, as it is farther from Atlantica Jungle Lodge compared to Conceição de Jacareí, the cost of a private speedboat will be double, as will the crossing time.

We recommend using regular transport to Vila do Abraão and then transferring to your final destination. In Angra, there are two departure ports for Vila do Abraão:

Cais da Lapa

  • Vessel: Official ferry (Barcas SA).
  • Schedule:
    • Monday to Friday: 3:30 pm.
    • Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays: 1:30 pm.
  • Fare: R$ 20.50 per person.
  • Crossing time: 1 hour 30 minutes.

Estação Santa Luzia

  • Vessels: Flexboats (speedboats).
  • Flexboat schedule:
    • Daily from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm (regular departures).
  • Fare: R$ 100 per person.
  • Crossing time: 30 minutes.

Upon arriving at Vila do Abraão, proceed with the transfer to Praia do Pouso, as detailed in the section about Conceição de Jacareí.
