Due to our remote location and access, we recommend you plan your arrival at the Lodge during daylight hours to avoid nighttime sea crossings which, aside from being more costly, may be uncomfortable or even impossible, due to sea or weather conditions.
Please feel free to ask our help in planning your arrival at Atlantica, and pay special attention to the following information:

From Conceição de Jacareí:

The most convenient port currently available for boat crossing to Ilha Grande is in the small town of Conceição de Jacareí, located only 2 hours from Rio de Janeiro and 6 hours from São Paulo by car.

Those arriving by bus from Rio must ask the driver to make a stop in Conceição de Jacareí to let them off. The boat docks are a ten-minute walk from the bus stop.

We recommend three options for arriving at the lodge from Conceição de Jacareí's public harbour:

1. Get a private taxi boat from Conceição straight to Atlantica (which is the speediest option) a 30-minute boat ride. The crossing costs R$ 400 for up to 4 passengers.
We can provide contact information of the taxi boat pilot for you to check availability and organize pick-up.

2. Take a regular passenger fast boat to the main port of the village of Abraão (15 minutes, R$ 75 per person), there are regular departures starting from 8.30am, the earliest and 6pm the latest. Easy to buy tickets up on the arrival in Conceição, in fact, the sellers will find you before you find them.
Once you are in Vila do Abraão, you have to get a private water taxi to Praia do Pouso (where we are) You can find taxi boats on the shore, next to the main pier.
The best price for a private water taxi Vila do Abraão/Praia do Pouso, during daylight, is R$ 250 up to four people but can arrive in R$ 300, depending how you deal or due to supply and demand . Sometimes you can find a taxi boat shared, in that case it costs around R$ 50 per person.

3. The least expensive way is taking a regular passenger fast boat to the main port of the village of Abraão, and from Vila do Abraão, a regular passenger wooden motor boat to Praia do Pouso (where we are). Tickets cost R$ 30 per person and the trip takes 50 minutes.
Please note that it is necessary to arrive in Abraão before midday, as the boats from Athos company leave at 9.30am, 10:30am and 11:30am only. Occasionally and during the summer season, there is a 12:30pm boat as well.

Prices and crossing times may vary according do time of year and climatic conditions.

From Angra dos Reis:

This is the best option for those coming from Paraty as Angra is located approximately 1 ½ hours by car from Paraty.

Once you are in Angra dos Reis you have to get a running passenger boat or ferry to cross to Vila do Abraão in Ilha Grande.
There are two harbours (Cais) in the city centre:

1-Cais da Lapa
This is the harbor where the traditional ferry boat departs, the company of the ferry is “BARCAS SA”.
The trip takes 1 ½ hours and costs R$ 19 per person.
From Monday to Friday ferry departs at 3.30pm
Saturday, Sunday and bank holydays ferry departs at 1.30pm

2-Estação Santa Luzia
Small private companies depart from this harbor using rigid-inflatable boats (RIB’s) that takes between 30 and 40 minutes to cross to Vila do Abraão. There are regular departures starting from 7am, the earliest and 6pm the latest. Price is R$ 100 per person and you can buy on the harbor.

The options for getting to Atlantica are the same as from Conceição de Jacareí, once you are in Abraão:

1. One of the passenger boats leaving in the morning to Praia do Pouso.

2. A Taxi boat from Abraão to Praia do Pouso.

Prices and crossing times may vary according do time of year and climatic conditions.
